Welcome

Tabora Girls’ Secondary School is among few selected special secondary schools in Tanzania academically, it has a total of twenty(20) streams both arts and science beginning from form one to form six. The school can hold the total number of eight hundred (800) students.

Currently the school is having 13 classrooms. 6 more classrooms are needed to suffice the current number of students. The ward government authority cannot contribute its efforts in construction of our school infrastructures since the school enrol pupil from primary schools all over Tanzania mainland especially those with high marks regional wise.

There are six science subject laboratories hence all our students are motivated to study science subjects. The library we have is small to suffice students’ academic need. The refectory present needs to be expanded.

There are 9 dormitories but only 8 are in use. The workers’ houses present are 20, 15 more are needed. Most of school infrastructures are old enough. The government provided 50/- million for rehabilitation in the financial year 2012/13. This is like a drop of water in an ocean as related to the persisting challenges the school experience. Semi arid climate remain a challenge for green revolution at school. The only source of water is DUWASA, the water bills are always high but we try our level best to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

All teaching and learning materials are available. The current pupil-book ratio is about 10:1 for science subjects. The Government of Tanzania often provide the school with capitation for purchase of T/L materials. Recently the Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology supplied the school with ICT equipments which are used in the T/L processes. The talent foundation of Swiss provided the school with 1 laptop, 1 projector and a modem. However, UCC of UDSM is creating a website for our school which will be useful in the academic arena.

HUMAN RESOURCES

Out of 39 teaching staff the school have 30 teachers who are university graduates the rest are diploma in education holders but four of them are pursuing their degree studies in various universities in Tanzania. However, all teaching staffs are well experienced and committed in the teaching career, always positive and innovative in paradigm shift. As for other schools the school has a shortage of science and mathematics teachersThere are 16 Supporting staffs who are well experienced in their career whereby the recently employed was that of 1990s. They always cope with changes.
